This encapsulates my confusion, again they talk about music. I don't want music without background noise I want silence.

Bose Quiet Comfort 20. Bose may not be great music makers but they do have a highly regarded noise suppression system that allows for a high degree of silence in noisy surroundings.

In-ear active noise cancelling even when not playing music.

Is it not safe to assume that if they have active noise cancelling technology this will work with or without music ?
