As somebody pointed out (it was Save Grass Roots Footy on Twitter i.i.r.c.) Sam Allardyce has never been considered good enough for the manager's job at Man U, Man City, Chelsea, or Liverpool when vacant, so what makes him a good choice to manage England?

Non of them have English managers! Choice is limited. At least players under Sam over perform rather than under perform and he knows what system he is playing to. Boot up the field to Carol or Vardy might win more games with a decent defence. At this stage not losing to another Iceland is more important than winning the world cup. Portugal just won with a crap team playing on the break even with their only great player stretchered off.
