Halloween - what is this nonsense

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

Halloween when I was a kid was just an excuse for us to annoy the neighbours, apart from that it had no popularity. Now it seems there is a whole industry grown out of it.

It is just a commercial bullshit to create more sales for shops, especially Supermarkets, of overpriced plastic crap from China, or am I being cynical.

Not sure what you're talking about! You'd like my t-shirt Doc it says "If I wanted to listen to an asshole I'D FART!!" - Captain Spaulding

Totally agree Doc. Pagan, but popularised by the US and of course most things US become adopted here!! :angry-screaming:

I much prefer Guy Fawkes day myself which is quintessentially British and best!! :guiness;

I am fed up to the back teeth of Americanisation of virtually everything in the UK. It appears they are not that friendly to us anymore either, urging us to stay in the UK yeah for their own benefit.

Fuck the EU and all it stands for !!

And of course rampant commercialism that people are suckers for!

Alfi.

We seem to be becoming dominated by these little brainwashes. It focuses on indoctrinating the kids so they expect it every year and so think it is normal when they are grown up.

Most people forget the significance of 1st November which is All Saints Day. Everybody had an opportunity to atone for the night before. This tends not to happen now so Halloween is becoming increasingly unhealthy. How long before we see the first zombie murder on the 31st ?
