You're more observant than me, I hadn't spotted the cat's moustache. It still strikes me as utterly banal.brit-pop wrote:The cat has a Hitler moustache and Bavarian hat, the dog wears a crown of the same colour as the cats underwear.
Its about the war, a comment on national socialism perhaps?

Re: Reaction
That is intellectual perception and could be right, but where this picture probes is into dark primal thoughts and emotions. And IMO calls into question as to who is the victim or are we all victims, don't any of you play out these games in your dreams at night, I certainly do, hormone induced, well probably.
We have two sets of energy, primal - the animal, human - the aware, they play with each other in a permanent schizophrenic game.

Re: Reaction
i am missing the third level of spiritual/higher self - it seems to be completely absent from this image.

Re: Reaction
There is no higher self, it is all primal. The higher self comes in with the analysis and with the artist labeling the dog as a clown and the cat as the enticer, maybe as Brit says with fascist overtones. So who is the victim.

Re: Reaction
Following on the Hitler/fascism interpretation. The 'new' political direction would have been seen as 'sexy' by the old establishment (the dog is wearing a business suit). Who then came out in support of the new party, as a way of getting more power and control over the general population.
The seductive greed for power meant that 'higher' moralistic and ethical considerations were forgotten.
The victims ended up as the inhabitants of Nazi Germany, and then the rest of Europe as this thirst for domination led on to WW2.
The cat knows exactly what she is doing and is in complete control of the situation.

Re: Reaction
Brit also commented on the colour connections.
Dog's crown & Cat's knickers (red). Dog's attention/intellect fixed on Cat's posterior.
Cat's hat & Dog's collar (green): Cat's intellect has control over Dog.
Cat's dress (yellow). Symbolic of the Jewish 'problem' that fascism would 'solve'.

Re: Reaction
Not many votes and I am the only one to love it. The original is sitting on the wall of a large room in what is known as a castle with timber beams and the works, above the left Cube1 in an all NVA system.
I loved it on first sight because it is so thought provoking, he obviously loves it and it seems everyone else that sees it hates it, including Nadia. From what I gather the artist is known to be mentally unstable.
