Should the 5 min rule stay

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew »

Jammy has gone off on one about the 5 min rule for editing or removing posts. So a vote please, and also any ideas for an alternative if you don't like it. I wont vote. Your vote can be changed any time if you reconsider

I say keep it. All it means is you have to READ what you've WRITTEN before you POST it. If you were writing a letter or a memo, or an email to someone hopefully you'd do that, wouldn't you?
Is it too much to ask that you THINK before you hit SUBMIT? If you're worried about your spelling, use a spell checker. I can't speak for other browsers, but Firefox even has one built in. Simples, eh?

Can I just point out that the question posed cannot be answered 'yes' or 'no'. You need to ask either 'Should the 5 min rule stay?' or 'Should the 5 min rule go?'

Anything you need to add you can always put in a new post. Knowing that there is a limitation means you can work within it.

Yep, fine by me. 5 minutes is plenty to sort out any grammatical errors and stuff, if you reconsider your position on an issue you can just say so.

Zebbo.....I like ya.

But in the same breath, why not allow us to edit our posts - without time limits.

Strange.
