You have been warned!

Unread post by terrybooth »

Some time ago an acquaintance of mine was telling me about how senseless he felt his life was. Sensing an existential problem, I suggest a perusal of “The Roads to Freedom”, thinking that that would at least give him something to occupy himself with if not some clues to the issues he was facing.

I met him again the other day and asked him if he had read the trilogy. He had. I proceeded to gently prod for information about his attitude to life; however, I came quickly to the conclusion that nothing had changed here since our last meeting.

Which just goes to show: you can lead a man to Satre, but you can’t make him think.

Some people are just like that, it takes all sorts. As we should know from observing hi-fi forums

The thought of there just being nothing somehow makes me think of finding a way to join TAS again to experiment with it

Well, I got the joke if no-one else did.

It reminded me of Dorothy Parker's example of a sentence including the word 'horticulture':

'You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think'

You can lead Pinky to a sensible solution, but you can't make accept it.

I got the joke , it just was not funny ;)

Also, doesn't the original saying have dubious providence , I have never seen a GG refuse a drink of water at any given opportunity.

Stand behind him with a sugar cube in your hand and see which one he goes for first.
