I know it's the instinct of this country, like the people of the Ukraine, to choose freedom every time.
I can give you a couple of famous recent examples. When the people of this country voted for Brexit in such large numbers, I don't think it was because they were remotely hostile to foreigners. It was because they wanted to be free. To do things differently and for this country to be able to run itself.
I'll give you another example. When the British population came forward to be vaccinated at such incredible speed - voluntarily - unlike many other countries..."

His line of rhetoric was to say that it's the general desire of people to be free, both in Britain and in the Ukraine.
He wasn't comparing Brexit to the war in Ukraine. He was talking about the desire for freedom.
That - in my opinion - is a reasonable line of rhetoric to take.
Shame that he has been so hypocritical about the freedom of the people. Our freedom went right out the window at the drop of the Covid hat. The freedom of wealthy Russians with assets in the UK - to do what they want with their assets - has gone right out the window.
The freedom for me to do what I want with the money that I earn has been eroded - due to tax increases imposed by his Government.
I'd also like to see Section 43 of the Terrorism Act scrapped. It's a piece of legislation that the police have used to intimidate and bully law abiding citizens.
As well as loads of other laws that restrict my freedom. For example me not being free to do more than 70 mph on a quiet motorway during clear weather conditions when I'm in a medium performance car.
I suppose it's a bit like Thatcher. She was full of capitalistic rhetoric. However, during her spell as PM, her government became increasingly socialistic in terms of spending and the taxation burden.
All in all, his freedom rhetoric is bullshit. Words are cheap. Give us more actual freedom Boris. Then I might admit that you value freedom. Until then I'll say that you're just another typical politician. One that favours Big Government over the freedom of the people.
