Re: Taking the piss out of politics
It's a while since I've had a bit of a ramble, so...
KamiKwasis and Truss-o-nomics: A ramble:
So, Kwarteng and Truss, driving a bulldozer through everyone's (except the rich, obviously) finances, eh?
The stupid thing is - and I'm no economist, far from it - it seems bloody obvious that if you give us "have nots" more money, we will spend it, buying things that we need, with perhaps a little over for luxuries if we're lucky, but spend it we will. Yes, it won't so much trickle as f*cking gush, straight back into the economy.
If you give more money to men who have spent their lives becoming rich by hoarding cash offshore, or (as Yanis Varoufakis says, in the Grauniad today) buying into funds etc., then that is precisely how they will continue to act, especially now that the cap has been removed from bankers' bonuses. The more they make for their banks, or funds, then the more they can allocate for their bonuses, and so on ad infinitum.
Surely it does not take a genius to understand that - which, in fact, I've probably just proved - let alone an actual economist.
Unfortunately, there are still people who buy the Daily Mail, Express, S*n, etc.
Even more, unfortunately, there are still people who believe the absolute bollox that those rags print. (There is no such thing as an "illegal" asylum seeker, troglodytes. Research it, do some reading, and have your own opinions for a change, instead of blindly believing everything your favourite chip-wrapper prints.
These are the people who are dashing towards a cliff-edge with gay abandon and no conscious thought of what they're doing, other than following the Conservative party's latest diktat.
Now, personally speaking, I don't give a tinker's cuss about them. They can all jump off the cliff and be damned, and the world will be a better, and saner, place for it.
Here's the catch though, metaphorically speaking, every one of those idiots who have not got the brains, or the awareness, to question Trussonomics, and KamiKwasi fiscal imbecility, have one of us chained to their backs.
They go, we go.
That is the all too painful truth. The idiots are taking us with them.
The housewives who think it's "nice" that a woman is in charge again: Look how that worked out with Thatcher; pretty much the same, actually, except this time Thatcher has already sold off the railways, power, water, etc. and any other bits of the family silver she could in a last-ditch attempt to balance the books.
The knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers whose only raison d'etre seems to be to "get rid of them illegals, and stuff". Tommy's little racist super-troopers, who have brains even smaller than their penises. The same people who voted for Brexit because they thought it would mean sending English families back "home," to Pakistan, and India.
The Believers: People who will not hear a word spoken against the Conservatives because "Boris got Brexit done," and "Boris sorted Covid out". Yes, they still believe both of those, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. I mean, dear God, some of them at least, are actively campaigning to get Johnson reinstated. He lied to the bloody Queen (Gawd bless her, tug-of-forelock, tug-of-forelock) for heaven's sake. He lied repeatedly to Parliament. He's the only British Prime Minister, ever, to be prosecuted while in office. He gives out peerages to his mates like sweeties. Goldfish have longer and more reliable memories than the people who want him back in Downing Street.
Then there are the Party Faithful, who are very similar to Believers, but they might actually see what's going on, even though they will argue that it's party policy, and "they" know what they're doing, so it must be alright. If Satan became Conservative leader this group would describe it as a "radical" move, but one that would surely prove to be "inspired", in the long run.
I'm sure I've missed many of the sub-human sub-species currently infesting Britain, but I'm sure you understand by now where I'm coming from.
We are not only being betrayed by our current government but we are also being betrayed by our own neighbours. The sort of people who would have turned the bloke next door in to the Nazis, because he "looked a bit Jewish, and had never been seen to handle a Porky Scratching", and the sort of people who would have looked firmly in the opposite direction as the poor bugger was being marched away.
They would probably feel even more at home somewhere like Iran, Afghanistan, or, ironically, Russia. If they understood history they would probably pine for the good old days of East Germany and wonder what went wrong there.
They are gammons, flag-shaggers, and most oddly they are often to be found making pro-Donald Trump posts on Twitter.
They are Al Murray's "Pub Landlord" minus the satire and the ironic humour, or any other sort of humour.
They are the person complaining that they can't be racist because they've got a black mate and they can't be anti-gay "cos the bird's cousin is a 'shirt lifter', and he's alright ...for a gay".
Before we can defeat these nouveau-Conservatives though, and I include Starmer's "Tory-Lite" faction in that grouping, we obviously need to educate the misbegotten, misguided, masses. Not with the violence that many of them seem to revel in though, but we need to treat them with patience and understanding because they are, to quote my Scouse friends, as thick as mince.
Before we can do even that though, we need to be able to present a viable alternative to Conservatism, and that is not where Labour is at the moment.
Should the current Labour Party win a general election in the near future we'll just end up having a similar conversation (a "conversation", in this case, means me talking at you.) about Starmer being "run" by Israel, big business, and bankers.
What we need is a decent new party which can support socialism while being open to all views that are not actually right-wing, and which will not be dictated to by foreign interests and big business. A broad church, in fact, like we used to have.
And, with "Broad Church", we're back to that bloody great cliff again.
Mind how you go, and be careful. This woman wasn't careful, and look what it did to her....

Re: Taking the piss out of politics
Apparently Kami Kwadis has a PHD in economic history. What has our education system come to
Truss is the Conservative Corbyn, put in place by a membership out of touch with reality. Can see her getting the boot within a year with so many MPs who did not back her fearing for their seats. Sunak must be loving this and God forbid Johnson.

Re: Taking the piss out of politics
I'm not bothered about Truss and all that stuff.
I'm more bothered about getting nuked by the Russians.

Me too. This is the closest we have come since the Cuban missile crisis and Russia has said London would be the first target. Putin is a cornered rat losing the war he started and who knows what he will do.

Re: Taking the piss out of politics
Russia is losing against Ukraine because the technology of their weapons isn't as good and their troops aren't as motivated.
Russia holds a technological advantage when it comes to nuclear weapons. In the context of this war.
In the context of World War III we're looking at parity. Russia could carpet bomb the West with nukes. And vice versa.
I'm struggling to see what alternative Putin has to nuking Ukraine?
Bearing in mind that we're probably talking about the mind of a psychopath.
A sudden "unexpected" nuclear strike on Kiev would decapitate the Ukrainian regime.
Battlefield nukes are also possible.
The big question is: how will Biden react?

Re: Taking the piss out of politics
I think the biggest question is how Truss will react if she's still there. She is run by big business, and there is probably no bigger business than the arms business, and those fuckers would like nothing more than to sit in their nice little island hideaways winding everyone up and selling weapons to all sides, like the Satanic fuckwads that they are.
Make them aware that at least some of every country's primary retaliatory-strike nukes will be targeting them, and then let's see how keen they are to fan the fucking flames. I'd argue that supplying weapons to anyone involved in what has been designated an illegal military action makes them legitimate targets.
Now that's a nuclear treaty I could get behind.
