I bought this (thinking it was an AP20) and thought to match it up with Portable Digital player. Got a FiiO from E Bay but after 4 hours of messing about, it wouldn't stop locking up. So I sent it back. Wanting to find out how the A20 would sound, I disconnected my kW550 from the speakers and ran the phonos from the Blusound Vault (which has a volume control - although it took me ages to find out where the volume was!!).

I've just run through a couple of albums - Alicia Keys, songs in Am which has a complex mix of vocals and instruments. I also ran through an MP3 album (I doubt you've heard of it but it's brilliant in my view) Adrien Moignard and Rock Desset, "entre acts". Two accomplished "gypsy" guitarists .

To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The little 20W power amp compares very favourably with my kW550 lacking only the last fraction of bass control that the bigger amp provides. Clarity and stereo imaging are immaculate, the tonality is first class and I simply love it. It will be a real pity to consign it to my man cave in the garage which is what I bought it for.

Let me put it like this - the only things in my system that cost less are the oak cone feet and a silver interconnect I made myself. WOW

Agree with the comments about the A20. My second system sounds better than first systems I used to have.
I set a course just east of Lyra
And northwest of Pegasus
Flew into the light of Deneb
Sailed across the Milky Way

Sonore microRendu/MCRU PS, AQ J-bug, Wirewold Ultraviolet, Chord Mscaler-Qutest/MCRU PS, Geitnote Apogee, NVA BMU, P90SA, A80sMk2, Phono 1, SSP Mk 2, TSCS, TIS mk2, Cube 1s, Atacama stands, Rega Planar 3, Denon DL-110, Grado SR 325e, headphones.

Second system
Chord Mojo (also HP amp), NVA P20, A20, Cubettes, SSC, LS3.

Out and about
Oppo PM3, Audioquest Dragonfly Red.

Really glad you like it!

Btw you will get that extra grip on bass when you move up the chain - just saying

Just out of curiosity what speakers you are pairing it with?

If I get it right those are 90 dB large floor standers? So not the easiest to drive!
Good to know that in your opinion our entry level A20 drive them pretty well

Correct. 90dB, 4 ohm. In fact, most large speakers are easier to drive than small ones for the same output. Also being 4 ohm, they should in theory draw twice the power from the amp. In fact it's probably more like 30 - 35W from a nominal 20W 8ohm amp.

Also, may I say that the slightly looser bass is not necessarily a bad thing. The series 2 PL200's were designed with a tighter bass to allow better response in our smaller rooms. Hence a slightly bigger bass ain't a bad thing.

Thanks for your interest.
