I'm told Schiit have modified them to eliminate the RFI problem. So a new one might be OK.

Maybe you could learn a thing or two Shane, especially if you did some reading around before jumping on my back. That caution is genuine - cases not electrically sound for safety (mains powered models) and Mani hum problems in certain areas. Their DACs are extremely poor technically (this may be changing with future models and revisions though) and not always electrics safe I gather, unless this has been sorted too. These Mani things often sell used for no much different to 'new' prices, so I'd suggest an Angle Audio as a possible cheap alternative. Not sure if Tisbury now make one and of course the baby Longdog model, which is more expensive at £200 approx..

OK, then go email that to Schiit. No guarantee you'll get any reply though!

It's all over ESR with internal pictures of some of the units and everything... Because their older DACs measured Schiit by modern standards, apparently they've invested in a bang up to date analyser which you need for DAC circuit designs from scratch and a newish update they introduced last Summer or so does seem better now they can better see where they weren't so hot before. No idea if the screening/earth integrity issues in mains powered models have been solved for UK use, but that doesn't apply to the Mani as it has an outboard supply (wall-wart I believe).

I was going to say it's the way some of you listen ;)

Whatever.. Used gear is used gear. You buy, try and pass on if bored or not happy *and hopefully not at a loss.*. Just make sure you don't pay too much for stuff in the first place.
