Audio Talk

Unread post by Dr Bunsen Honeydew » Fri Dec 30, 2016 10:03 pm

I have a thread running at this forum about Doc Mods, as it is largely a DIY forum and that is my contribution to DIY. It seemed a logical step as I had decided to reactivate my membership. Now the obvious has happened and it has attracted its first objectivist, and I am refusing to get involved even though I have technical proofs and opinions, I want to keep this at an entirely subjective and empirical level. So if any Doc Mod-ers here would like to join and give opinion it would be much appreciated

Maybe i'm missing the point here, but you're giving free and tried & tested advice and yet "noddy" seems hellbent on trolling your efforts.
Why?
What the fcuk is the point? I kind of feel sorry for the bloke if that is how his life revolves.

He has decided he hates me, I think from when we were both members at AoS. I joined AT about 5 years ago and he was immediately at me, but he is not like others he has a technique of stupid childish wind up. I joined TAS and he immediately joined to play the same tricks, he stalks me around the forums. He is proud that he stopped me posting at AT, but IMO it just wasn't worth it at AT as I had no DIY or valve or SUT enthusiasm, but I did try to defend myself at TAS until I was booted (with his help).

It is like being pursued by a Mozzy or a Flea, he tried here but was booted quickly as there was no point in him being here as he was only here to create conflict. I am well pleased this time around that he is being seen for what he is.

What is the point of following someone around the web just to incite an argument?
I haven't tried the Doc Mods but the speaker mods seem to make sense to me. If you want, try them, if not leave them alone but don't put others off giving them a go.

If I were in the market for a new Amp I would be up for a "Starter Kit" from NVA, at the price, and with the money back guarantee, it looks like a no risk proposition. I fail to see how anybody can argue against that but it seems they do.

Because it is seen as such a big threat by a lot of people, to what depends on the person - ego, money, power, stupidity, industry politics. They cannot attack the work and the offers so they attack me.

A "flea" is a good analogy. Like something that "hops" from forum to forum with the sole intent of maximum annoyance.
I can't imagine any pleasure that can be gained from such actions unless said "flea" has the intelligence of a bucket of sand, and that's probably unfair to a bucket of sand.
Without people giving "free" advice from thier own and possibly expensive experiences then where would we be?
Audio Talk looks like a great place to learn (for me at least) and theres some great info and members on there, but why they entertain the "flea" is beyond me
As far as i can see "noddy" will just put members off and put the forum into disrepute. Which is sad.

Well it deserves to be better supported as an example of a forum not run by ego, agendas, in crowds, commercial spamming, getting potential customers for a record shop etc. Perhaps some see that as bland and there is a popularity in sites that have battles and conflict, a bit like watching a soap opera. We have that but in our case it has to be as the site was born out of forum conflict. Nick is to be praised for AT, and they originated the bake-off concept which is not acknowledged in their Owston effort which has been going on for many years.

It is rather specialist though as it is DIY and valve centric.

Someone out there clearly needs to get a sense of proportion. A small manufacturer, such as NVA, can't begin to produce the volumes that some others do. Yes good quality from a small source can turn an industry around but, if that industry feels threatened the right approach is to embrace change and lead it rather than fighting it with fleas.

FYI, the Owston venue is relatively recent. before that we had similar events at Eggborough power station social club. Its all a bit tame compared to some of the fun that was had there. I particularly remember the "lets see how much stick we can give a GM70". And Pauls 212 amp. Cant find any pictures of the events, but this is the sort of stuff we were playing with.
