For anyone interested in car crash forum activity, What hi-fi forum is going through a bit of a meltdown today:

https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/cl ... -alpha-one

https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/fa ... ut-dealers

https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/moderators

https://www.whathifi.com/forum/hi-fi/el ... page=6#new

I predict that some or all of these threads will get locked and deleted.

My personal view is that I have a certain amount of sympathy for both sides. And that this is a prime example of ad hominem escalation.

I can also understand the hands-off (so far) approach of the moderation team of that forum - trying to treat the members like adults. Today it feels like a Lord of the Flies experiment where things are starting to get out of hand.

To be fair Lindsay, QuestForThe13thNote is a fruit loop of the highest order. Post its purge, he's been booted from WAM twice too so his track record for banning is second to none, especially since it looks as if he's gone for WhatHiFi too.

The What Hi-fi forum is closing down on 13th August.

I see you posted the link to HFS as an alternative. Members can make up their own minds. WAM seems to be the most popular. A mention of AOS with it being described as the friendly forum. Could be a piss take. i

I'd be happy for (just about) any of the members of the What Hi-fi forum to join and participate in HFS.
There's only 1 currently active member that would struggle to abide by the simple rules of this forum. That's daveh75, who on past performance would struggle with our strictly enforced no ad hominem rule.

It's the no ad hominem rule that has resulted in me being relaxed and very happy to post here at HFS over the years. As I know that when someone disagrees with me, I'm not going to get an annoying made-up, wide of the mark, personal insult in response.

I've been in and out of WHF forum over the years but I was never tempted to join as somehow it just wasn't my glass of Beaujolais. It's sad to see it cut down by the all too familiar corporate indifference though. :(

A number have joined WAM. Can't find any transferring to AOS. Of course they would need to be interrogated before being accepted.
