It looks like they are studio versions of songs likely to be played on tour.

Won't be buying that then.

Looks like a "best of" sort of thing, to showcase tracks they'll be playing in the "Last Domino?" tour.
Celebrating the return of Genesis and their 2021 / 2022 arena tour, The Last Domino? collection gathers together the band’s legendary hits with choice album cuts from across their stunning career. Having sold around 100 million albums to date, this new 4LP set represents the first time a career-encompassing Genesis collection has been made available on vinyl. The Last Domino? comes pressed on heavyweight vinyl housed in a hardback gatefold book-style package with rare and previously unseen images of the band.

Wikipedia says: "On 29 July 2021, Genesis announced a companion greatest hits album, The Last Domino? – The Hits. The set will contain the studio versions of various songs throughout their history, and will be released on 17 September, the first date of the tour."

Here's my best guess and that's yes. I cannot think of any LP I have played that contains 7 or 8 tracks per side that was anything than okish to poor and this is case for sides 1 & 2. I will probably pick it up second hand in the CD format somewhere down the line.

From the track selection it is hardly worth bothering with anyway. Heavily weighted in favour in the later 3-piece 'pop'formation and there are a couple of dud tracks like 'That's All' which could really be replaced by something better.

Most likely is that this is a rough guideline to the set-list on the forthcoming tour.

Weighted against the four piece line up which I really liked. Good to see Afterglow included but there is nothing from Trick of the tail. Tracks such as Ripples and Mad man moon wipe the floor with the poppy stuff.

Choosing between genesis tracks is like choosing between children. Something totally unnecessary .

It's a 4-LP and 2-CD collection: there are 3-4 tracks a side on the albums.

Having said that, it can only represent songs they've rehearsed for the tour. As a best of, the Platinum and Arkiv collections are far more representative (and cheaper, if you must have them).

I used to be a Genesis completist, but I cannot think of a good reason to own this. However, there will be a market out there for this collection.

I'm still going to see them though: I obviously haven't been punished enough
