Talking of pastiche...
I saw this mob live, they were superb. They were funky as Hell but did stuff like this too. I remember the singer picking up the guitarist and ramming him headfirst onto the bass bins during a Staus Quo piss-take,
This was the B Side of White Punks On Dope, a Tubes 12" single I bought.
And then there's Zappa, complete with authentic crackles, pops, and scratches.
