I must be honest, I've only really skimmed the tracks on Spotify, but it sounds pretty good to me, and yes, Terra Firma does get a bit Snow Goose-y in places. The closing track was the one I liked least. I just don't like fake strings that sound like fake strings played by someone who has, perhaps never really listened to 'proper' string arrangements. It's a niggle, and it's a personal thing. I'll come back to the album though, and play it all the way through.

Listened to the 'taster' on YouTube. Nice melodic old-school Prog. Bit of Camel & early Marillion. The programmed drums do give it an 80's feel.

Keep em coming., Progmeister.

Us "bedroom musicians" don't often have a choice but to use programmed drums. A lot of the software these days can "humanise" the drums to some extent, but it still ain't a 'proper' drummer. In fairness though, the software used turns up on time, doesn't get drunk, doesn't make the rest of the band carry, help set up and break down its gear, tends not to speed up during the rock numbers it enjoys playing a bit too much...

Yes I can see all points of view here as valid. This is one of those rare albums that would simply benefit from z real drummer because it is so good. However, the expense and logistics of doing so evades so many talented independant artists. I so rarely review albums of this nature but in this case I listened through the obvious flaw. Thank you all for taking time to read my review and even listening to the artist. At least it is getting his efforts noticed. I remember reviewing a Steven Wilson album many years ago and similar comments were made.
