I'm odd (which we all knew anyway) in that I love music but I'l sometimes go two or three days without playing anything at all, preferring silence.

I must admit that I tend more and more to have (short) periods of no music.

Certainly during my weekly nature rambles; started off long ago with earphones and an MP3 player - but now I far prefer to enjoy the natural sounds around me and begin to recognise several bird-sorts by their call.

Only trouble is that the Netherlands is so small that there is almost always a motorway, railway or factory audible in the distance. Real silence is hard to find here.

when not working, I like R4 when I get up around 7am, after the kids have departed to Kindergarten then maybe sky politics for 30 mins or so to see what is happening in the world of BREXIT and BJ.

Then if housebound and wife at work, records on! However, currently in the process of moving house and most misic is packed up and the ''Music room'' has been taken over with boxed storage for removal.

With limited music access I have been completely obsessed with All things ''Prefab Sprout / McAloon'' and Pink Floydd - Animals (only!) I seem to be going round in circles listening only to them.

It does though remind me of being young in my teens, when I first got into music and only had limited access to records (late 70's) and how well I knew the music and album covers then compared to now.
Kevin.

No Valves - Technics SL1210/Jelco/DL103 (vdh) - Phono2 - P50SA - A70's - Cubettes
Valves - Cambridge CD - World Designs Pre3 - WAD 6550 - Troels Gravesen CA18rnx speakers.

Many years ago i made so many compilation tapes of Led Zep that i knew how long most of their songs were. Same for Floyd and The Doors. How sad. Maybe this should go in the OCD thread ?

LOVE THAT!

Zen Arcade is a monument of Intense, passionate power.

Funnily enough I had Husker Du earmarked for a revisit soon.

I bought it after you mentioned Hüsker Dü when I asked for the Swans. I recognized that I liked them a lot in my youth but don't have an Album. There are two albums Missie mentioned I bought and I don't regret it:
Mick Farren: 'Vampires stole my lunch money' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0S6dSItRiRM (Great drunk early punk - even if Missie would never have added it to that genre)
and, I think this could be interesting for CN because it sounds a bit like Led Zeppelin on speed,
Granicus - self-titled: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV6-WK2FZ4E

Classic music to smooth out the wrinkles of life, reggae and ska if I am in happy/ party mode, blues in the small hours with a good whiskey or classic soul (Stax/Atlantic/Mojo but not Motown) throw in some mainstream pop from 70s right through to today and if I am feeling low a bit of old school gospel. So no C&W, no rap, no heavy metal or prog and most definitely no bloody musicals 😄
