Juana Molina - Odd but something compelling

Unread post by Bencat57 »

I am always listening out for new music by artists i have never heard before and on Saturday while driving and listening to Giles Peterson he played a track by Juana Molina who I had never heard before , now if I got this right Juana started out in Argentina as a comedien but then changed tack and became a singer and produced a number of very different sounding albums.

Like what I heard as it was inded very different but also quite compelling . Quick trawl of Amazon to day has enabled me to order two CD's and will give these a listen to when they arrive.

Not sure what the general attitude here is as i am fairly recent new memeber so thought i would list the details so that perhaps others who might be interested can also have a listen .

Very interesting. I’m a bit of a fan of World Music. Six of her albums on qobuz. I’ve listened to a couple and added the lot to my library. Thanks for the ‘Heads Up’.

I've got a couple of Giles Peterson compilation albums, some interesting stuff on them for sure.

I'll check her out on Spotify later, assuming she's on there.

Talking of Argentina, have you tried The Gotan Project?

As I am at work I am not able to listen to this but a brief read about Silvana is enough to get me winging my way to Amazon . Just bought four of her albums for the princely sum of £13 including postage so will rip and give them a listen to when they arrive. Thank you for the tip .

I'm been getting along with 'Son' and just ordered another of hers. Thanks.
