I saw Iggy Pop for the first time in 1979 and he was more what i would describe as punk than any British punk band I have seen. Precisely the reason why I raised the point about definitions, right at the start. As far as I'm concerned (proper) British Punk and so-called American Punk are two completely different animals which happen to share the same name.
