Nope. But of course that didn't stop people saying that artist X or band Y 'weren't really punk', because, well, who knows why? Same with 'not really metal' and 'not really prog'. What's needed is a quick blast of:

No it didn't .
It did have elitism though. So it was corrupt in its ethics from the star.
At least the real punk ten months or so did.
Terrible elitism !
Rotten considered even Siouxsie to be a second rate bandwagon jumper.
And she and her mates were their first real fans.
Then after December 76 it was no more I'm afraid.
Blame Bill Grundy for that baby.
What came after with the new wave was bloody good fun and some ace times . But after the initial 75 _ 76 mutation period Punk was no more .
