Also, do you - bastard - sort your records/cds BY RACE?
Blind Chile collects prog, psych, hardrock, UK/Brittany folk and electronic.
Black brothers are conspicuously absent from these genres.
Oh yeah - I also gots lotta fusion - and there are plenty top black performers there. (Im thinking Cobham, Stanley Clarke,David Sancious .)
Of course black musicians are flagrantly prominent in straight jazz - and I don't care for that music.
I DO like some black ORGANISTS but the trouble here is that with peeps loike mcGriff,McDuff ,Holmes and especially Jimmy Smith, the lps are embarrassingly patchy with them doing old Geritol nuggets. (The only straight good Smith lp is "Rootdown". Its free of that Lawrence Welk music. Trouble is that its one of the most difficult to find. Also, the closest Smith came to prog was the Virginia Wolfe lp with orchestra.)
Psych and especially Prog is the clear STAY AWAY ZONE for blacks.
Off the bat, I can only think of a few for psych - New Dawn, Witchbones... (I dont rate Chambers Brothers as psych) and even less for prog.
I have maybe 6 Osibisa lps in my collectro, the Frankie Dymon proggish lp, and one I really like - Rochester Veasley Band. I will try put up a piccy of the latter.
