Wot music you play for this Rememberance Day?

Unread post by Mississippi Blind Child Assburn »

Also 100th annivers. of end of WW1.

I done side two of Wolff & Hemmings lp, "Tibetian Bells".

Himalayan bells sound nothing like Western or European church bells. They are very subdued - actually my quietest lp - with great long sustain. Sound more electronic-sourced than physical bells. Remind of wine glasses being sounded by rubbing finger on rim.
Certainly the word "clamour" does not enter at all when describing the sound.

Wolff did a second TBells lp with Mickey Hart (Grateful Dead).

There is a very good synth/EM album from Ron Boots called 'Acoustic Shadows' with music inspired by the senselessness and suffering of WW1. The title alludes to the effect of not hearing gunfire in battle despite being able to see it.

Ron Boots - The Unknown Soldier
Ron Boots - The Battle Of The Somme

I drove past Castle Amerongen (near Utrecht) this morning, the place where Kaiser Wilhelm of Germany came to on 11 Nov 1918 and was granted asylum by the Dutch Royal family. He spent the rest of his life in exile in Holland.
