How do you cocksuckers archive....
....your Elton John/Bob Denver/Cohen/Kate Bush collection?
Do you do your classical collection alphabetically within the genus? (Fauvism, neoclassicism,chromaticism....)
Or alphabetized by conductor, composer or country?
Do you file your fucking Rush boners chronologically within the designation: prog period, cock period, mong period??
Do you order your Paul Mccartney bone by cognomen within the denomination of post-Sir Macca or pre-Sir Macca?
Do you get off on ordering your lps AT ALL. Or do you just lay on yer bed all day and kick the shits off when occasion warrants.

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
My Kate Bush and Elton John CD's are ordered chronologically. Classical discs by composer and then chamber works and symphonies apart.
Does that answer your question?

I store my LP's and CD's in alphabetical order. Then the artists work in chronological order.

Everything is there, somewhere. I have a rough idea where most stuff is.
Elton, Kate etc are nowhere...

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
My ripped CDs are in artist alphabetical order as are my favourites on Qobuz. My vinyl is stored in artist alphabetical order, except where there are band spin offs, e.g. with the Beatles and Deep Purple. Everything is easy to find.

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
I seem to be having trouble getting around this.
In fact, it is beginning to freak me out.
"the artists work in chronological order" This is, of course, the proper way to go. No arguement here, Jimmeh.
But by, " LP's and CD's in alphabetical order" I think you mean ARTISTS/BANDS in alphabetical order."
A slip of the tongue maybe???

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
I'm glad you brought spin-off/solo lps up. This is important.
But ,again, I'm confused. Give me an example: how would you treat - for instance - this: the Cream lps and the Ginger Baker Airforce lps.)?
...................................
Does anyone separate solo artists from bands? (I mean complete different shelves.)

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
If youse separate by genre, may I ask wot the genres are:
Mine are:
1/ clear separation: electronic music
classical (in fact my classical records are in their own listening room - but, not to say, that I only listen to classical IN THAT ROOM.)
and I have a exotica/exploito cubby
2/ the majority of my collection is prog, psych, hard and fusion. I LUMP THESE ALL TOGETHER. (In SOME cases its hard to tell psych from prog - it would perhaps, in this instance, be better to create a whole new ProtoProg shelf. But this may be getting near too retentive.) Can be difficult with some other lps to decide "is this more in the fusion realm, or the pwog?" I bypass all that by just lumping it. Blind Chile don't lose sleep over it, Jimmehs.
I have a clearly-defined FOLK section but there is one problem:
I collect British folk/folkrock and Brittany almost exclusively. I do not like American or Canadian folk, but there are a few exceptions like Figgy Duff,Lightfoot, Quebec folkmusic or things like (early)Simon & Garfunkel. I don't like to do so, but I cast these together with the Brit folkies.
Is this disconcerting???

Re: How do you cocksuckers archive....
On a tangent:
The meaning of the word "archive" when it comes to records and books: I have seen a website or three where , by "archive" , the poster basically means MAKING A COPY.

Whatever meaning you ascribe to "archive" it doesn’t mean index, order or collate which is how you seem to be using it.Mississippi Blind Child Assburn wrote: ↑Fri Oct 26, 2018 7:59 pm On a tangent:
