Songs about Outer Space

Unread post by Mississippi Blind Child Assburn »

Another EASY one for youse to participate in, so don't let Blind Chile down, roight Jimmehs?

This is International Space Week. ( Also NASA (or sumfink loike that) is 60 yahres old today.)
...............
Now I want to diverge a bit and speak to you of cocksuckers:

Youse probs knos by now that Blind Chile despises Canada's version of your BBC, the CBC or Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

This is cross-Canada (6000 miles) radio that is govt-sponsored, has no commercials and no competition.

It is radio BLOATED. For your average halfhour shit-program there - like the hoax-news show that is meant to be funny- they have a whole team of writers, sometimes as much as 10. And you're sure everyone get mention!

So then this morning they do a 15 minute bit about Space Week and they choose 4 songs about space to place.
I was surprized that they played an entire 30 seconds worth of Gustaf Holst's The Planets. But then they go into the obvious:

you JUST KNOW they were going to plau Bowie "Space Oddity" and Elton "Rocket Man". Why? Because they are great songs maybe, but mainly because CBC has a clear agenda:promoting homosexuality, trans-gender and indigenous peoples. (I'm surprized they did not do a song by North American Indians but ,then again,a spce-song by indians must be thin on the ground.)

They played just a snippet of the Elton and Bowie.

Finally they culminated with playing THE FULL "Space Jam" fucking rap.

When it comes to pushing indigenous culture on CBC, they take this to a whole new level.
The govt can do little to correct the injustices done to the native population: they still drink poisoned water on their poor reserves, the penetentiaries are still majority Indian, there are the problems of wife-abuse and alcoholism and suicide.

So , what is the govt's easy route to make themselves LOOK like they care? Talk interminably about native CULTURE on CBC. This, afterall, costs little.

I bet you CBC would bend over backwards to get a true indiginous person to anchor some show there. But , I get the feeling that the Indians just aren't interested in the CBC. They see through this sham.
(Actualy there IS a person of indigenous extraction what does the film reviews at CBC. And he is very intelligent and clearly the best thing about CBC.)

.....

Well that is my rant.

Now lets have songs about "SPACE".

Hawkwind it up!

The Damned - Plan 9 Channel 7

Written as a tribute to Maila Nurmi, the Finnish-American actress who played Vampira in the cult film 'Plan 9 From Outerspace'

Image

She plays her mouth into a smile
And offers that he stay a while
Two hearts that beat as one
And eyes that hardly ever saw the sun
Hollywood babbles on

She lays a wreath of lilies on his grave
His flame gone along with the love he never gave
Not to be seduced by those red lips
Two dimensional comic clips
Hollywood babbles on,
on and on and on and on.

[Chorus]
Channel 7, eyeshades of grey
Too close but two worlds away
Plan 9, her domain
Too close but two worlds away, they say

Channel 7, eyeshades of grey
Too close but two worlds away
Plan 9, her domain
Too close but two worlds away, they say

Step into the night.
