I thought the crumhorn gave it away too. Gryphon, masters of early music and intricate rock stylings.
A big round of applause for Slinger, who knows his mediaeval instruments.
King Henry VIII was a cultured figure who had originally intended to become a priest. He wrote poetry and music and had an eye for the ladies.

As one of the clues was "Eponymous debut album. 1973" the album was also called Gryphon. The Henry VIII song would be "Pastime with Good Company" which (having read back) Hannes-Gregor got ages ago, but with the wrong band.
Sorry, didn't realise we had to name tracks, I got too excited at knowing the right answer for once.

Now, an obscure blues album, or...
This is a 1979 double vinyl album, the band is named after the band-leader, it's prog, so "concept album" goes without saying, and it featured, in the sleeve notes, its own language. FULL title, please.

Nope, sorry. It's an actual band, named after the band leader, not a solo artist.
