As a reaction against Punk's abrasive anarchism a variety of acts began to make quiet, introspective music like The Durutti Column and Everything But The Girl. In Cardiff, the Moxham brothers and singer Alison Stratton, armed with a tinny organ, primitive beatbox and a bass guitar, came up with an album that shook the music world (Sounds and NME raved about it at the time).
Kurt Cobain called it one of the 5 most important albums he had ever heard and had planned to record a YMG track for a tribute album.

It might have shook the music world but it did not shake everyone in Cardiff.

I have either forgotton all about them or not heard of them. But I did not read the music papers on acount of the :Bllocks:

they spouted at that time.

I'll give you that - the first 4 Peter Gabriel albums were all just titled 'Peter Gabriel' and this was the third one, PG3.

Three Top-40 singles: 'Games Without Frontiers', 'No Self Control' & 'Biko'
Contributions from: Kate Bush, Phil Collins, Paul Weller.

PG, dissatisfied with the sound, went back and remixed the complete album, delaying release by about 6 months. He also made a german-language version called 'Ein Deutsches Album'.

The cover image was created by rubbing a coin over a developing polaroid photo.
