Band with a squiggle for a name had a single 80's hit then split due to lack of further success.

Singer/guitarist and keyboardist continued and broke through with a track which was included in the soundtrack for a 90's cult film.

This was from their second album. Which?

Not Underworld - 'Change the Weather', which was their second album? The song in 'Trainspotting' was 'Born Slippy' but was only released as a single. Or am I completely on the wrong path?

I think it could fit. Freur only had 'Dood Dood' as a hit and then Underworld was founded.

I'll give you this one Hannes as I forgot about the 2 (forgettable) albums before Dubnobasswithmyheadman.

The album is 'Second Toughest in the Infants' (stunningly good!) with the single 'Born Slippy' featured in the film 'Trainspotting'.

Then you solved it and can do the next one. When I watched the first 'Trainspotting' movie we were there with a bunch of friends including a lot of beers. We were sitting in one of the last rows. Every time someone of us had to leave the row to go to the lavatories, a bottle standing on the ground was kicked and rolled down the whole floor of the cinema. Nobody complained. Maybe because the movie showed that it could be worse. To the second one I was with a friend, which whom I was to the first, too. He didn't remember. We bought beer. A bottle rolled.

You got all the clues. Despite my mistake.
Keep those beer bottles rolling.

I know it's horrible. I don't drink it if I'm not forced to (means no other choice). So, different genre, call it maybe hard blues rock, UK, solo album of a musician who jumped in a band which had big success with a single in 1967. He joined them after that success. First half of the seventies he did the third album together with a band whose name was his name. That's the one to be found.
