Vinyl-desireability can only get stronger, but, yes, vinyl is in great threat .Desireability is not enough. Sheer numbers of green-behind-the-ears shitheads will always win in the end. The horde always does.

When the old silver-beards die-off in the next two decades or so, Shithead will conquer.

As always, I think you have to distinguish between interest in second-hand vinyl and reissue/new band/fad vinyl.

I think the interest in the latter has peaked. It took a decade or so for the Youth to realize they are being short-shifted (shafted, really) in paying an exhorbitant $40 for a poor quality product. (At least those who actually PLAY the lps).

The two stores that I frequent , I almost never see younger customers - even though the stores are well-stocked with current fad remaster-type gubbins-vinyl. Blind Chile sees only the aforementioned old-git silver beards and baldie-paunches. And, like myself, these elder customers are only flipping used fuzzay warbles.

If your a dedicated collector, you are always on the hunt for hot sauce seldom encountered. You never finish rebuilding your collections.

Youngsters however - one would think - do not come in with heavy wantslists.

Being what you do Specialist music on 1st issues is important factor, Buying a Vinyl Re-issue is just as no no as collecting CD's would be.. I used to be like that but now im very lazy & have no real interest in it any more. Ive been on & of CD for years because ive always know there was some hope of it sounding better than Vinyl regarding resolution, detail etc.. Only recently have i combated what i did no like about CD of the past plus the fact that CD of my fav albums sound far better these days.. I can safely say the my CD's do sound better than the records to my ears.

Really doesn't matter if it does, (not that I think it will but it will probably return to it's niche status), as there's a sixty year back catalogue that most of us have only scratched the surface of.

All that matters is what sounds good to your ears. But Missy is a collector which is totally different to an Audio guy. Its about the originality of the Product mostly. Why on godz erf would you want to collect CD's for instance!

Speak for your self about scratching the surface

Vinyl will continue as its format is fixed in history and will not change

CD is a victim of technology at the time of launch - streaming and higher resolution more convenient digital formats have come along since.

Also vinyl remains highly competitive in sound quality and overall has not been beaten by digital yet.

Vinyl is cool and steeped in history.

Vinyl should be 100% Analogue, If not other than the hands on it may as well be a CD you listen to imho.
