When stereo SEPARATION first hit you

Unread post by Mississippi Blind Child Assburn »

Just been listening to Beacon Street Union - Eyes of... lp and its full of movement. Sweeping from left channel to right and back.
Back in the day they used more separation studio gimmickry than today.
(Or even those old Dylan lps with his voice on one channel and guitar on other.)

Krautrock used this for their spacey, wide spaces Kosmische. Courtesy of the master, Conny Plank (who devised the Head system).

Can you remember a track with separation that flipped your lid at an early point?

Mine would be the (middle of) the second track on the second Led Zeppelin lp. I would test my speakers on that. (Hell, "Whole Lotta Love" as well.)

Rubber Soul in stereo - vocals on one side and everything else on the other
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Really?

I never noticed that.
.........

"Hey Bulldog" is strange. Very unusual to put the lyrics on the LEFT channel.
