Lps released without the band's consent...or even knowledge
Klaus Schultze - Galactic Wotsits. The notorious Miller/Mueller let the space cadets loose in the studio, fed them drugs, and without their knowledge set to recording them.
.......
Stonewall-same
Now here is an interesting story: you all know the Roulette record label. Roulette was basically a mafia label. (Tommy James (and the Shondells) never got any royalties for the lps he released on it).
Morris Levy (of Genoese connections) created a tax-scam offshoot label called Tiger Lily. This label was specifically created to generate a taxloss - they WANTED the label to fail.
The records on this label are quite collectable, since many of the lps were purposely ditched in batches.
The most-common lp on Tiger Lily is a Richard Pryor comedy lp. The rarest is Stonewall-same (pressed on Tiger Lily in '72 - an excellent hardrock lp. Which sold for something like $13,000 . The owner found it in a Goodwill (second hand "thrift" ) store, for a dollah.

Heart 'Magazine'
Canadian record company Mushroom wanted a follow-up to the Wilson sisters debut LP 'Dreamboat Annie' but the girls signed to CBS subsidiary Portrait. A legal battle ensued and 5 studio tracks were released along with some live numbers as 'Magazine' without the permission of the band, who were busy recording the stunning 'Little Queen'.
'Magazine' does have it's moments but it isn't a cohesive album.

Re: Lps released without the band's consent...or even knowledge
The first Tangerine Dream album 'Electronic Meditation' was released without the groups knowledge. They had taped some experimental messing about in the studio and Ohr Records just wanted an album from someone/anyone for their new label.
It worked well for both parties in the end.

HaHa!
No one caught my (intentional) mistake.
I wrote that Miller/Mueller was the culprit when in fact the shady one was Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser.
How could youse not of caught me out??

You spelled 'Schulze' wrong.....
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...
