No point now, I don’t go there much but to not able to tell a SACD and a HDCD and selling as the former is crass,
It clearly stated as such in the liner card on the case, twenty odd quid down the drain.
Frank...made me do it.

This is the problem, you don't name and shame, so he can pull the same stunt on others - this thread is a public service - use it.

If you buy through ebay and you're not happy with the condition of the LP received compared to the condition described then just request a refund through the ebay system. There is the facility to add photographs to support your request. Even if the seller has stated 'no returns accepted' you can still progress through the ebay money-back guarantee scheme. I have always received either a full refund (including a free postage label to return the item) or a discount that I agree with the seller if I want to keep the LP despite the condition issue.

Tip: Before buying, ask the seller to clearly state the condition of the disc, sleeve and liner, if they have not already done so.

Hope this helps.

I avoid buying Records on E-Bay like the plague. Most people are just casual seller that dont use a dedicated Record mailer hence you record has a high chance of getting damaged.

It's a decent idea to ask the seller what packaging they use, prior to purchase. If they are a casual seller they will usually be happy that you can point them in the right direction.

In any event, the seller is responsible for the item until it is delivered to you. The cost of any damage in transit is borne by the seller - they refund you or give discount, whichever you prefer.

You can never control a seller intentions regardless of what you ask. Not all sellers are dishonest but a hell of a lot are in my experiences. The amount of orders i have had cancelled by sellers on cogs alone because i enquired about details is beggars belief.

Ah, Discogs - they have a less tightly regulated buyer protection system from what I can see.

That doesn't put me off using the site altogether but it does mean that I am a good deal more cautious.
