Bands with two drummers

Unread post by karatestu » Sat Nov 04, 2017 8:37 pm

Can you name a band with two drummers ?

I will pick one from my yoof - Adam and the Ants. Still love Kings of the Wild Frontier. The drummers made themselves heard on that track.

I find that any timing mistakes stick out like a sore thumb. Sometimes it can make it sound like a flam - a drumming term.

Does post Gabriel Genesis count when both Collins and Thompson perform together?

I take it we're talking about two kit drummers. I'm sure there's plenty of examples of bands with congas or kettledrums or some other drum set: Ginger Baker's Airforce, for example.

There's also lots of jazz things with Gene Krupa/Buddy Rich with another kit Drummer.

The current incarnation of King Crimson has THREE kit drummers and there was a 2-kit line up with Bruford and Mastoletto.

I remember seeing Marillion with both Andy Ward and Ian Moseley playing - but Ward might just have been doing percussion (c. 1983).
