Krautrock - an appreciation

So, Krautrock. Actually an English term applied to the experimental, psychedelic music that started to come out of Germany in the early 70's. The Germans took it as a bit of an insult

And also (as was the case with say Gentle Giant or VDGG) the Krautrock phenomenon -if you could call it that - was much more esteemed/made cognizant of OUTSIDE the home country . In this case specifically UK where, as you say, the term was likely coined.

For both Faust and Tangerine Dream , UK was the best thing that could have happened to them - specifically Branson and his Virgin record label.
They could not get that kind of recognition in Germany.

Also regards the term: it is interesting to note both Conrad Schnitzler and Faust have titled a track , "Krautrock". Faust most certainly in a mordant sense, and Conrad likely also as ridicule. (Conrad on his -most accessible - lp, "Rot" and Faust on "Faust IV".)
