your favourite drummer

Unread post by karatestu »

Why drummers i hear you moan. They just sit at the back drooling.

Well i am a drummer and we all know a good rhythm section is what makes the lead artists sound good.

Anyway, my favourite is Animal from the muppets. Awesome chops man. When i used to read Rhythm magazine the man who did the drums on the muppets was featured. He looked extremely old by that time. Forgotten his name.

Charlie Watts - seemingly laid back precision
Keith Moon - manic precision (watch videos of him and I cant quite relate what he is doing with what I am hearing)
Kenny Jones - much maligned but responsible for one of the few drum solos that I like ("I'm loosing you" Faces).

Also particularly impressed, at the moment, with Mark Zonder's drumming on the Fates Warning albums 'FWX' and 'Disconnected''.

Mustn't forget Neil Peart or Mike Giles.

And there was that guy from Brand X, Phil something - didn't he play in another band ?
