I bet, I'd like to see them if they come over again. I found their version of RATM's 'Killing....', brilliant.terrybooth wrote:I've seen them about four or five times here in the UK. Definitely fun gigs.

I think Phil Collins drives very nicely here...Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote: I put Phil Collins in the show off sub group and he really doesn't keep good time and drive the band so they are just a bunch of flash individualists.

Re: your favourite drummer
Well, if I read this correctly, they're touring in June.

(I'm pretty sure that this is this year, last year they played the Jazz Cafe in Camden (amongst other venues). I saw them in Huddersfield (without their usual drummer). I didn't like the venue and I was stuck behind a couple who did not stop trying to shout a conversation over the music for the entire gig - I really don't understand why people do that - it was at a pub - why not just stay in the bar?)
'Killing' is their sure-fire crowd please, along with this one https://theapplesfunk.bandcamp.com/trac ... om-bahalal

Re: your favourite drummer
Well spotted, thanks Terry. I shall!
EDIT. If you're into that sound, have you heard of 'Fat Freddys Drop' ? It might be your cuppa... on record they're quite 'controlled', live its a different story, they really let rip, superb.

Re: your favourite drummer
He is lagging not leading, he is not driving it. Perhaps I am not explaining it very well. I tried with someone visiting, I think DSJR, to show what I mean with two bits of music. And no a drum machine is incapable of it, it can only ever play with itself. To me it is obvious when a drummer is not doing his job and just following the rest of the band.wiicrackpot wrote: So, if thats the case the drummer in Stars on 45 must be up there, out of the way and never miss a beat.

Re: your favourite drummer
I think that needs taking a step further. In a (rock, pop, etc.) band format it's the job of the drummer AND the bass player to lock together, forming the bedrock of the music, or the spine of it if you like, and driving the rest of the band. They, together, are the rhythm section.Dr Bunsen Honeydew wrote:...To me it is obvious when a drummer is not doing his job and just following the rest of the band.

Re: your favourite drummer
Agreed, apart from good drummer OK bassist = OK where as OK drummer and good bassist = not OK to my ears. This is a bloody good pairing working well.

But in this case the percussive classic Reggae rhythm guitar of Bob Marley dominates the mix.
