Wow!
For first time I actually learned something from one of you Dims.
I've never seen that Caravan coverart here. Guess , unlike all the other Caravans, that particular title was not pressed in Canada.

Re: Lyrics - the bad and the mad
... and what sort of horrible, twisted mind would come up with the bizarre verses here:
A well-known Bognor restaurant-owner disappeared
early this morning.
Last seen in a mouse-brown overcoat,
suitably camouflaged,
they saw him catch a train.
"Father of three its disgusting"
"Such a horrible thing to do"
Harold the Barrel cut off his toes and he served them all
for tea
"Can't go far", "He can't go far".
"Hasn't got a leg to stand on"
"He can't go far".
Ah well - it was the first LP I ever bought. Happy Days.

Re: Lyrics - the bad and the mad
Broken noses hung upon the wall,
Backslapping drinkers cheer the heavyweight brawl,
So punch drunk, they don't understand at all,
You better watch your step.
Bye..I send you all my regards,
You're so tough, you're so hard,
Listen to the hammers falling in the breaker's yard,
You better watch your step.
Watch your step,
OOH watch your step.
Elvis Costello, from the album "Trust" 1981.

Re: Lyrics - the bad and the mad
And finally from Elvis. Here he writes about this forum before the internet was even invented.
Don't get smart don't get sarcastic,
He snaps back just like elastic,
Spare us the theatrics and the verbal gymnastics,
We break wise guys just like matchsticks.
