My dad conned me into going to see James Last waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the early seventies. He had 'Big' Jim Sullivan on guitar (check out his solo on this), Ray Cooper on percussion , the amazing Benny Bendorf on bass, Derek Watkins on trumpet. and a nutcase named Barry Reeves on drums. I moaned like a good 'un as it cost what was a lot of dosh at the time, and I didn't realise the concert wasn't for another 6 months either. To this day, though it still pains me to admit it, it's one of the best gigs I've ever been at.
