Re: Jazz Rock
The postman delivered a copy of 'Sylva' (CD+DVD) yesterday, Snarky Puppy and The Metropole Orchestra (a Dutch musical phenomenon - possibly the last remaining professional 'swing' orchestra in Europe). Recorded live just a half-hour's drive away in Dordrecht (why didn't I know ?????).
A brief listen reveals traces of Mingus/Miles/Electronica and God knows what else. Sounds as if it is immaculately recorded and I hope to get time this weekend to have a proper listen.

Re: Jazz Rock
The whole point of all this hifi bollocks is when a brand new, shiny, wrapped package comes through your letterbox and you can just sit down and listen to some good music in peace. Bliss!
I don't know much about hifi but I do know that a shit CD/lp sounds shit whether on a £100 system or a £10K system.

Re: Jazz Rock
For those who like music that really cannot be categorised, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones live at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in 1998:

Bela Fleck on bluegrass electric banjo, Victor Wooten on bass, Jeff Coffin - sax and Futureman with a weird electronic percussion thingy.
Stunningly enjoyable.

Re: Jazz Rock
Hell's Bell's - I might just have discovered a new favourite group: Kraan.
Jazz-rock lovers just check out this mind-blowingly proficient ensemble doing wonderful electric things.
KRAAN Nam Nam Part Two. BASS SOLO.
Why have I never heard of Hellmut Hattler (bass) before? - the guy is a genius !!!
