Just had a quick listen to "Gloria" on YouTube. I will be investigating further, thanks for the pointer.
I think the only parallel you missed drawing was Mass in F Minor by The Electric Prunes, which is what "Gloria" reminded me of straight away.

Ha ha, Nice one Jammy. Yer, it's not what we came to know and love but it's great to hear the roots of Prog. I totally see where you are coming from with the monestry angle. Good on yer for giving it a go.
