This thread has perked up my nostalgia, so today dug out some 80's stuff, 2 albums stood out for it's sound and good tunes,
the band is Yazoo, albums ''Upstairs at Eric's'' and ''You and Me Both'', no fancy Audiophile thick slab and sounding better than i ever remembered it,
my Garrard 401-SME IV-Lyra Argo going through Tim de P TX4 ''the head'' transformer through LFD MMC stage helps a lot,
willy waving a bit but the sound is just. :o it's so good i had to shout out.
Frank...made me do it.

Ok so it's out of the closet for me....

In the last few years I've really begin to appreciate George Michael as an artist, I couldn't care less that he's as bent as an arab's dagger, or bowls from the pavilion end.

Assuming we've all got decent systems here, immediately go and put Careless Whisper on. Your hifi will get no better work out, great vocal, great sax and loads of atmosphere in the production. Pure genius.

BP, his talent was never in doubt but the constant promoting of and getting caught in public places with his tool where it shouldn't be is wearing,
i'll say no more on the matter, i am weary, :shifty: i've even attended his 25 concert in Glasgow Hampden Park, the performance and sound system was immense.

Agreed about Careless Whisper, there's a lot highlights in his catalogue, on a same theme, try ''Jesus to a Child'' and ''First Time Ever i Saw Your Face'',
both achingly beautiful.

A Different Corner...

Siouxsie & Banshees - JuJu... No crashing cymbals to distract, but the vinyl NEEDS a clean system to communicate.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Juju is really the ultimate Goth Rock album - every track is a killer, John McGeoch's finest hour. I saw them on the tour and it was mind-blowing! The Banshees sounded like nobody else and had a strange, intense power that could rip your soul out.

'Tinderbox' is also excellently eerie and 'Hyaena' (with Robert Smith) is a great 'pop' listen.
I've just dug out 'Seventeen Seconds' from The Cure - another classic.
