The Thompson Twins - drop all the old preconceptions and give 'Into The Gap' a listen. Phenomenal production that'll have your speakers crying out for mercy, and FUN tunes that get you bopping like a teenager again!

Thompson Twins on TWELVE INCH was incredible..

Love Annie Lennox and Morten can sing some styles incredibly well too - his version of Crying In The Rain is heart-breaking, the Everly's original sounding chanted in comparison.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Well there's a surprise Dave, thought there were a few ahead of the Thompson's in the 80's,
for me the Human League ''Dare'' was one and propaganda ''a Secret Wish'' was another,
really the Tourist ''Luminous Basement'' too and there's Talk Talk ''the colour of spring'', imo of course. :-?

Oh..forgot...and there's Thomas Dolby, here's a guy who used the electronic genre to the max.

As a teenage marxist in the 80's i profoundly disliked plastic pop and only listened to genesis .

aha and eurythmics sound good upon first hearing , but in my jaundiced bigoted and not very bright opinion they lack emotional involvement . It a bit blah , blah bland

Dan, you've missed some good'uns then, Gary Numan when he appeared on TOTP's was way out, kraftwerk has stood the test of time,
Tangerine Dreams as well and others i have forgotten no doubt.

On a different not, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, especially their version of ''Born To Run'' is by far the best version ever,
makes Springsteen's version sound lethargic in comparison, again my opinion. :P
