Saw Saxon last night. It was the first leg of the tour but there were no signs of rust. They were at the forefront of what was labelled the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and have a strong and loyal following. They still release albums on a regular basis and the one which came out this month is very good. The new songs went down well. The classics from the early 80s were included, closing with "Denim and leather". Biff Byford is a great front man who has never lost track of his roots. It was another very enjoyable evening following Magnum on Wednesday. :guiness; :)

I just bought tickets to see From the Jam . Saw them at an 80's festival last year and they were awesome. The best act of the day. All the old Jam favourites and the singer even sounds like Paul Weller. Can't wait :dance:

Saw them 4 or 5 times now Stu. Always a top night out and if you close your eyes they are almost there.

I totally agree Chunk. Only Bruce Foxton left from the original trio but you wouldn't know it. :guiness;

Great band but I thought they had dropped the "Legacy" bit as John Etheridge thought people were thinking it's a tribute band.
Seen them twice in the last couple of years. Brilliant both times and as you say John Marshall is amazing.
Really nice, humble guy too

You're right. Soft Machine. They were playing at the Liverpool Jazz Festival.

Did not know Soft Machine were still going. A lot of kids were really into them at school in the mid 70s, Daevid Allen, Kevin Ayers, Robert Wyat and Ratlidge was the favoured line up.

They morphed into a different band. Kind of an English version of American jazz rock. Quite unique in many ways, these days especially. I went with a friend who is a big fan. I only have one album, 4. I enjoyed it though and intend to pick up a few more CD's.
