Feeling sad. His influence cannot be underestimated. So many tributes and there would have been a lot more had he not out lived so many.
R.I.P.

Read about the passing of Alvin Gold in PFM. Remember him from when I read "Hi-Fi Answers" for a few years after giving up on "Popular Hi-Fi" following a two page pasting, filled with bullshit, I received from Ivor after having a letter published telling the truth about the Glasgow mafia. Apparantly Alvin Gold jumped the LP12 for a Rokson TT. Must have been one of the more credible reviewers from that era.

RIP

Sorry to hear the news about Alvin Gold. I'm sure I spotted him at the Bristol Show about 3 or 4 years ago but not heard much of him in recent years. Was an avid reader of his reviews in the magazines from the 80s and 90s. Actually found him pretty thorough and he wasn't one of those constantly pushing the Linn/Naim stuff.

Another giant of contemporary music and a contender for the title of Best Guitar Player Ever,

Time for some Metal Fatigue ....

Shame about the death but just listened to your link. Remarkable stuff....reminds me of Zappa solos quite a bit.

Try this one. It combines two of my greatest likes in life; tasty guitar playing and tasty Glenmorangie whisky.
