My favourite used-vinyl shop has a summer sale and I have ordered a stack of cut-price LPs which gets me nicely along in my efforts to recreate my pre-1986 collection.

Currently in an Alan Parsons Project phase with 'Gaudi' spinning now and I am finding a new appreciation for the likes of 'Tales of Mystery and Imagination', 'Vulture Culture', 'Eve' & 'Stereotomy'.

Absolutely wonderful 1973 live album from Traffic. Worth the price of admission just for the sublime extended side-long version of 'The Low Spark of High-heeled Boys'.

Smith/Kotzen - Smith/Kotzen

Currently reading Adrian Smith's book. A lot more on fishing, another of my interests, than music and a good read.

Status Quo - Pile Driver. This was the first album when they moved from Pye to Vertigo. It was also the album they were promoting when they were the main act at the end of year ball at the small agricultural college I was at at the time. For some reason they were performing in the dining room with a normal height ceiling on the ground floor rather than the floor above in the main assembly hall where they normally had college dances. Needlessly to say they were LOUD so half way through the set I went upstairs where 2 lads with acoustic guitars and a girl singer were trying to compete with not only the Quo but even the building as the floor was acting as a passive radiator.
