Groundhogs - Hogwash

then the rest -

"And the Moon. mirror of the Sun, night-light of the World,
Drags a blanket of cooling sea across the sand in furls,
In the night when the stars provide a reason for Man to strive,
He reasons that's the reason He's alive.

Let the Stars in the Firmament remain as bait,
For the people whose only wish is to leave their home, let them wait,
Their impatience is only matched by a misunderstanding of their fate,
Let them get their priorities straight."
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way...The time has gone, The song is over, Thought I'd something more to say...

Another entry in the occasional series ‘Deeply Underrated Bands’; long-serving Canadian muso’s Saga.
Prog fans find them too poppy, pop fans think they’re too rocky and rock fans regard them as too proggy. You can’t win.

Since I first fished the LP of 'Silent Knight' out of a bargain bin in the early 80's, Saga is one of those bands that I just keep coming back to, always finding something new to enjoy. Sadly, I have just found out that having celebrated their 40th anniversary as a working unit, they have called it a day and ceased operations, leaving behind a legacy of truly excellent albums for those who can be bothered to find them.

So if you are wanting to hear something that is a bit Genesis, a bit Rush, a bit Kansas and totally themselves – try Saga. Layers of melodic keyboards & synths, intricate arrangements, powerful rock-outs, outstanding production, well-crafted songs and a world-class lead guitarist.

Recommended albums: Worlds Apart, Silent Knight, Network, Trust, The Security of Illusion, Behaviour, Beginner’s Guide to Throwing Shapes.

Saga - Worlds Apart (FULL ALBUM)
Saga - Silent Knight

For the interested, currently available is the budget 5CD set: 'Saga - 5 Original albums Vol 2' featuring the 2 titles above, the debut album 'Saga', a solid live album 'In Transit' and the later, more rock-orientated 'Pleasure & the Pain' .

Camel - Mirage.. I only play this album for the superb "White Rider" track.. Andrew Latimer slide guitar near the end is fantastic, it sounds every bit as good as Steve Howe. Things is every Camel tribute band i have seen & heard fall flat on their face when it comes to the bass guitar/Slide guitar section.
