Re: Your last listen
It is a confusing time to be a Nektar fan - there are currently 2 different lineups operating, both with a valid claim to the band's Legacy.
'Nektar' are based in the USA and includes original founder-members Ron Howden (drums), Derek Moore (bass) and Mick Brockett (lights). Along with a couple of others who have been involved with the band throughout the decades.
Their 2020 album 'The Other Side' is a guitar-heavy romp through Classic Rock styles and is comparable to recent Kansas, enjoyable if not really memorable. Although there are a couple of standout moments in the longer tracks ('Drifting') which recall the old group's extended psychedelic jams.
'New Nektar' are based in Germany and began as the final touring outfit before Roye Albrighton's death in 2016. This lineup is based around long-time Nektar keyboardist Klaus Henatsch and a group of seasoned musicians who have been around since the classic Krautrock days.
This incarnation put out the album 'Megalomania' in 2018 and I hated it at first, unable to get past the too-rough vocals from the new frontman Alexander Hoffmeister. But ... a fresh listen reveals this to be a strong effort with a more European character that recalls acts like Eloy and Jane. Hoffmeister suprises by being an excellent guitarist and the songs grow on you.
Both of these albums are worth a listen, just don't expect the mind-blowing sonic intensity of Nektar's amazing 70's works. On that front there are several archived live releases that have come out recently.

Re: Your last listen
First taster of forthcoming 2022 TD album ...
Tangerine Dream 'Probe 6-8 EP' (2021)
A muted affair, this one. They will undoubtedly be saving the better material for the full album but there are audible changes here. Most notably, Ulrich Schnauss has departed and I miss his trademark beats and sounds. He has been replaced by Paul Frick and the TD sound moves into a lush ambience.
It is a very smooth and serene ride. Certainly enough to whet the appetite. Roll on 2022!

Prism 'Armageddon' (1979)
To chase away the lockdown blues I've just received a pack of old rock LP's from the times when music was FUN!
Prism were a fairly successful act in their homeland of Canada with their driving, tuneful arena-rock sound.
Boogie down!

Neil Young - Barn
Impressed on first hearing. A mix of acoustic and electric tracks. His voice has stood up to the ravages of time and Crazy Horse are on form. Many of the same band as 1968. As you would expect from Mr Young recording quality is very good, 24 Bit 192 kHz and short enough to sound good on vinyl. The dynamic range, all the more important when there is a mixture of acoustic and electric, shows what can be achieved and is lost on too many recordings. The album was recorded with hifi systems in mind.
