You won't be able to exist without Five Bridges. No Emerson fan could.

I would estimate 300 to 500 albums would be about right for a nice lean prog collection.

Na. Whats done is done. Easy life for Karns. Karney-boyo is ELP fan not Emmo fan..
Missy & Karns are two different kinds of people, He is Record collector, Collects anything because the majority aint even prog anyway.

Karns is a pudding pot that has serious OCD issues that drastic measures help counteract.

I can see that reducing the music stack to just the real favourites would make life simpler. And think it's a brave decision to do so.

But I'm too attached to a lot of music for nostalgia reasons - and I have shifts in mood where I will only want to play Jazz one month, EM the next and follow that with Prog-metal or Baroque string quartets. Somehow my CD collection is a reflection and a reminder of who I am (big and muddled).

If you want to live with only the Great Prog Classics then Karn's list would be the minimum - but it IS all great music !

If you were to hold a gun to my head and demand that I part with all but ten of my albums, I'd settle for:

Half Man Half Biscuit: This Leaden Pall

Half Man Half Biscuit: Achtung Bono

Iggy & The Stooges: Raw Power

Rolling Stones: Exile on Main Street

Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde

Big Star: Radio City

David Bowie: Hunky Dory

Van Morrison: Saint Dominic's Preview

Love: Forever Changes

Velvet Underground: Loaded
Joe that would make a good thread starter! Although I have to say my ten would change from week to week but would include a least 1 from your selection (or it would this week!).
