NVA P50SA MkII Preamp vs MFA Classic

Unread post by alans1957 »

Following an issue with my expensive integrated, I decided to by a temporary amp until I got my amp sorted.

After doing a bit of digging etc, I plumbed for a secondhand P50 and M300 mono's. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised at how good this combo sounded to the point that when my amp is repaired it will be sold. I will eventually get the mono's upgraded to M600's and certainly consider bi-amping as well.

My friend brought round his MFA Classic One for me to try, it was just superior to the P50, more dynamic, greater scale, more detailed and better bass weight etc, which of course one would hope for given the price points.

So here's the question has anyone compared the latest P50SA MkII to an MFA Classic One or V2 and what were your findings?

Hi Alan,
I can't remember all of the details as it's a few years ago now but we used an MFA classic V2 for a while but found it lacklustre and fairly bass light..... honestly couldn't see what all the fuss was about as it had just received several really good reviews. It was replaced with P50SA MkII which is still in system to date.

Thanks for the input Hifi Architect, sounds like the NVA P50SA mkII will be an interesting listen when I get it.

Have to say when I tried my mates MFA none of the issues you found with the MFA were apparent. Just goes to show it's horses for courses.
