Caught a hint about Grado cartridges - they are designed to run with little or no anti-skate bias.
I still had the anti-skate on the Syrinx arm at where I had set it with the A&R P77. Reducing it by half has improved the presence and definition of the Prestige Green by a noticeable margin.
I'll have a play with my Hifi Test LP this week and check this out further.
(I seem to by turning rapidly into a complete vinyl/TT nerd, wonder if anyone's noticed?)

Re: Grado Prestige Green - first impressions
The 8MZ stylus upgrade is a whole new ball-game and I can honestly say that vinyl playback in my system has never, ever sounded anything like this before.
Because the Prestige and Signature series use similar casings, styli are interchangeable and the 8MZ (entry-level Signature) stylus costs about the same as the top-of-the-line Prestige Gold equivalent.
Sonically it is a major jump from the Green, detail is far more precise and solid. Bass more controlled and focussed. Soundstage has a holographic quality with a relaxed space around the instruments. Far more 'presence'.
If I had known this earlier I would have picked up a cheap, used Grado Prestige cartridge and slammed an 8MZ into it.
Blows my main digital rig into the shadows. Absurd.

Well I can only say I'm pleased you're enjoying this vinyl journey, but don't be looking at these though https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283955252663 ... SwhC9fFyl6

Re: Grado Prestige Green - first impressions
Do you actually listen to the digital anymore ? I have never doubted the superiority of anologue but having young children made me hide it away. Soon I will be joining you in a rediscovery
What phono stage do you use as you don't have one listed in your signature?

Re: Grado Prestige Green - first impressions
Phono stage is inside the NVA 'Big Knob' preamp with a hefty external PSU.
Still have the various digi-rigs for in-house convenience, but at the moment I just want to listen to the TT.
