NPR Radio - 'Tiny Desk Concerts'

TINY DESK CONCERTS .
At the moment its my favourite online music site, access either on YouTube or there own website, stripped back twenty minute concerts in the actual offices of the American NPR radio station.
The story goes that two staff members were due to go to a local concert and at the last minute one could not go so the other guy asked the artist to come to the offices the next day and perform some songs, the rest they say is history this has been running for over five years with hundreds of artists (mainly American) performing but with enough other people to keep the rest of us interested.
You get to see the artists up close, their personalities and emotion, I have found myself listening artists from all sorts of genres.

I love it, it suits me perfectly as I am always looking for something new to listen to. I will listen to virtually anything (apart from Rap, far too many words for one song and always moaning) My attitude is 'my best album I hope I haven't heard it yet'.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before but its work a look.

When I am in the USA, with a rental car, I always try to find the local National Public Radio (NPR) frequency. Often they take their news from the BBC.

I could set up a living room concert if you like. We have an electronic drum kit, a real piano, a child's guitar, various percussion instruments (inc train noises, a duck noise etc) and a 1980's keyboard with some crap sounds on it that we could get away with passing as bass (stevie wonder style).

Does that sound good or what ?

Love NPR Tiny Desk, and have done for years. Some of the best live stuff online I've ever heard. Well worth checking out IMO.

I would also recommend Playing For Change, a charity who do much for disadvantaged people globally in the music and the arts. They also have a YouTube channel. A couple of great videos I've enjoyed-

I wish I could remember the name of the French series that had artists wondering the streets of Paris (presumably) before delivering a song al fresco or in a small bar or restaurant etc. There were excellent performances. I'm hoping one of you good people will know what I'm talking about so I know what to google again!
