Bargains you've missed.
I recently had the opportunity to pick up a Schiit Loki at a very low price, and I've been kicking myself ever since for spurning it, What bargains do you now regret passing on?

Re: Bargains you've missed.
A home made turntable, it was £1500 and he reduced it to under £1000, unfortunately I did not have the cash. It looked fantastic, don't know how it would sound, but he was using it with an SME V through hi end kit. What made it worse was it was just round the corner.

Re: Bargains you've missed.
In the mid 1980s I found myself in an old hifi 'lock up' in some garages round the back of Tottenham Court Road. Valves and old Tannoys everywhere. He had shelves full of Lencos and Garrards. I remember the Lencos being £25 each and the Garrards were £50- to £100 each. Many were in original boxes. Having just bought an LP12, I thought 'who would bother with this rubbish?'

Re: Bargains you've missed.
I was in a guitar shop in the 80’s. they had a bunch of old Fender Mustang guitars they were clearing out for £80. Everyone wanted pointy Ibanez guitars, not crappy old Fenders. Keep kicking myself that I didn’t buy one, worth loads now.

Re: Bargains you've missed.
Also, my friends father used to design and build valves for Millard. He would often be seen at the factory in the late hours cooking up test batches of new valve designs.
When he died, he left boxes and boxes of valves in the loft. Some got used as air rifle targets, the rest went to the tip.
My friend kicks himself every day for not keeping them.

Re: Bargains you've missed.
Went to one of the first guitar auctions back in the late 80s. A 1952 Les Paul went for £450 ! Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates fame outbid everybody for a guitar owned by Elvis. Saw him walk out of the auction room with the guitar. They were also knocking out a fair no of early 60s strats at £1300ish.
Saw another 52 for sale about 20 years ago in a shop in Brentwood in Essex. Asking for £1400. Double gutted.

Re: Bargains you've missed.
I seem to do it with jobs, knocked back two offers a long time ago that would have made me a fortune if I had stayed between 2 and 5 years when they both went public. To add insult to injury the only one I was onboard when it went public burnt and crashed in flames within 18 months losing me a large six figure sum --- thankfully it's only money and whilst it's obviously nice to have, Ive learnt the hard way it's only important when you can't put food on the table and look after your family.

Re: Bargains you've missed.
When NVA ceased trading in 2000 a Peterborough hifi shop must have acquired the last few NVA amps at knock down prices including the first TDS Mk 1's ( glitzy ones on the pedestals ). I think they were going for about £2500 a pair (list was around £6k at the time ) then a serious amount of dosh just for hifi. But they were probably the best ever NVA amps made no expense spared including thick gold pcb's etc etc. I have never seen a pair for sale since as there were probably only a handful ever made.
